Shelby Health Equity Advocates is a non-profit organization in Detroit, Michigan working to bridge the gap, and reduce health care disparities and adversity. We believe health care should be accessible and available to all, and by equipping our community with the tools – health education, health care intervention, and diversity in medicine, we advocate for a healthier city and world.
Our Programs
We collaborate with health care professionals to bring educational programming and events to underserved communities.
Community Health Screenings
We provide free or low-cost health screenings for conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol in communities where access to annual screenings may not be readily available.
Mobile Clinics
We improve access to basic medical care – offering check-ups, screenings, and vaccinations to communities with limited access.
Nutrition Education Workshops
We address nutritional disparities and promote healthy eating habits by providing educational material, heathy eating workshops, and cooking classes.
Community Collaboration
We partner with other non-profit organizations and local businesses to provide resources and support

Every space is a safe space with us! Whether a community clinic or workshop, we are creating space for individuals facing similar health challenges to share experiences, resources, and emotional support.
Patient Education
We are accessible and available to provide culturally sensitive materials explaining health conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures.
Multilingual Resources
We help to provide interpreters to ensure that materials and services are available in various languages to overcome language barriers in health care.
